Dal Forno Romano: A Master of Valpolicella

ST. HELENA, CA (September 20, 2016) — Wilson Daniels is proud to announce a partnership, effective October 1, 2016, with renowned Italian winery Dal Forno Romano, located in Valpolicella, just east of Verona. Dal Forno Romano is well-known for a number of superior wines that range from the region’s famous Valpolicella and Amarone to unique bottlings such as Vigne Seré, a passito dessert-style wine.

“A sincere oath was taken embracing the philosophy of ensuring every detail is cared for in the vineyards and the cultivation of our wine,” says Romano Dal Forno. “The new partnership with Wilson Daniels is an example of our desire for excellence which remains the priority.”

The Dal Forno family has been making wine since 1983. Located in Val D’Illasi, the estate consists of 65 acres of vines planted to traditional indigenous varieties of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina. The estate vineyards and farm are located where the slopes begin to rise toward the mountains and sit 1,000 feet above sea level. The loose, alluvial soils, meticulous pruning and scrupulous viticultural techniques ensure remarkable-quality grapes. The Dal Fornos use traditional methods to grow the finest fruit, and then employ modern techniques to produce the best wines — classic in expression and modern in purity.

Dal Forno Romano has produced 28 vintages of Amarone, that is, every year except for 1984, 1992, 2005, 2007 and 2014 — as well as 32 vintages of Valpolicella excluding the 1984 vintage. The wines of Dal Forno Romano consistently receive 90-plus ratings from Wine Spectator since 1993 and the Wine Advocate since the 1992 vintage. This includes near-perfect 99-point ratings by the Wine Advocate for the 1996 and 1997 Amarone that have been called, respectively, “monumental” and “remarkable.”
