Wine Spectator’s NYWE Critics’ Choice Tasting | Castello di Volpaia and Schramsberg Vineyards

Wine Spectator’s 35th Annual New York Wine Experience is here! The three-day celebration commences with the Critics’ Choice Grand Tasting on October 22 and 23, featuring wines from Castello di Volpaia and Schramsberg Vineyards.

This is a great honor: All participating wineries were selected among the top wineries from around the world by the Wine Spectator board of editors; all wines being poured have received a WS score of 90 points or higher.

If you are in New York and plan to attend the Critics’ Choice Grand Tastings on Thursday, October 22, and/or Friday, October 23, stop by and meet Hugh Davies and Federica Mascheroni Stianti and taste the top-scoring wines that helped earn this recognition:

Castello di Volpaia (Booth #6340): 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva — 92 points
Schramsberg Vineyards (Booth #5106): 1997 J. Schram Late Disgorged 150th Anniversary — 94 points

Champagne Gosset will also be featured at Saturday’s Chef’s Challenge seminar, a food and wine sit-down tasting starring four chefs: José Andrés, Emeril Lagasse, Michael Lomonaco and Danny Meyer. Tom Matthew will present the Gosset 2004 Grand Millésime Brut to pair with Danny’s dish, Roasted Pumpkin Custard with Hazelnuts and Black Truffle. Abram Bissell, the young and high-regarded chef of The Modern Restaurant, has been enlisted by Danny to create this dish for the seminar.
