“Laroche owns 11.3 acres in Blanchots, enough to keep all of the various parcels separate through vinification in barriques, casks or stainless steel vats. This reserve is a selection of the best lots, blended the summer after harvest. It presents chardonnay in its purest form, tingling with freshness, opening into a long flavor of pale fruit, jasmine flowers and complex salinity that evaporates into a sense of elegance. The wine’s purity makes it accessible now, providing a mineral bath for a salt-baked fish. But the potential of the wine will not be realized without ten or more years of cellar time.”
