Chambolle-Musigny — 2022 – Vinous – 97 Points
97 points

“The 2022 Musigny Grand Cru contains 50% whole bunches and was raised entirely in new oak. It comprises four 150-liter barrels. Maybe that smaller size means greater wood impact on the nose: at the moment, it just occludes the fruit profile, the terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe tannins, dark berry fruit, black pepper, dark chocolate, mint, and a touch of cloves. The finish has fine weight and depth, although it will require a decade to soak up the new wood. It’s a fine Musigny, but you’ll need to taste this after time in bottle to gauge the quality.”
