Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru – 2009 – 95-98 points – Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar

“Bright, green-tinged yellow. Penetrating minerals, crushed stone and white flowers on the nose, along with a sexy note of reduction; reminded me of a top riesling from Schlossberg. Wonderfully silky and palate-saturating, with near-perfect balance and superb inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of lime, minerals and white flavors. This opens out spectacularly on the extremely long, mineral-soaked back end (in comparison, the Batard boasts a plump middle, then firms up toward the finish). A great young sample. These grand crus will probably need 7 or 8 years to approach peak drinkability, but I would not be surprised if they lasted for 20.”
