J. Schram, North Coast – 2000 – 95 points, 3 stars – Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine

“80 % Chardonnay; 20% Pinot Noir. In the tradition that this wine has so clearly established over the years, the newest rendition of Schramsberg’s flagship wine delivers stunningly rich and complex sparkling wine character. Its incredibly expressive aromas smell of aged yeasts, soy, tangy lemons, freshly baked crusty bread and a quiet hint of ginger ale, and its impeccably balanced flavors follow suit from front to back. Brisk and austere, yet compelling in its layered richness, this one will keep in bottle for a few years and may improve a bit as well.”
