“Red Label Tokaji is Royal Tokaji’s ‘house style,’ made from estate and purchased grapes at the 5 Puttonyos level. A blend of Furmint, Harslevelu and Muscat, it was aged for more than three years in ‘old oak.’ The color is medium amber and the nose shows the waxy notes of botrytis mingled with ripe stone fruits and raisins. The exceptional acidity nicely balances the 16.8% sweetness, allowing the apricot and hazelnut flavors to come through. Finished at 10% alcohol and sold in a 500ml bottle, this Red Label shows all the complexity and character of Tokaji at a very reasonable price.”
