Rather than an essence of fruit, this reads as the evocation of a place—a patch of black volcanic soil southeast of the Szt. Tamás vineyard. It’s incredibly savory for a wine with so much residual sugar, more pumpkin than peach in flavor with a dark, earthy smokiness. The broad beeswax texture and black pepper–cardamom spice place it with roast goose and spiced fruit stuffing.

“Though sweet, this Tokaji remains elegant, with a touch of creaminess to the texture and lively acidity buoying the apricot, caramel, orange, cinnamon and clove flavors. Very harmonious, building seamlessly to a long finish.”

"Opulent and elegant, this brilliant deep-gold Tokaji has aromas of vanilla caramel, crème brûlée and candied apricot. On the palate, crisp acidity clears the path for flavors of preserved apricot and candied apple."

"Furmint, Hárslevelü and Muscat de Lunel planted on black volcanic soil at density of 6,000 vines/ha and hand harvested in late Oct. DWWA 2012 Gold Medal and IWC 2012 and IWSC 2012 Silver Medals. Smoky, clean and dried apricots. Very fresh."
