  • Introduction

    • Sourced exclusively from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards, the Estate Wines represent the best qualities of their variety, vintage and Hawke’s Bay origin.

  • Vineyard Profile

    • The grapes for Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2022 were harvested between 28 February and 16 March 2022 from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards in the Bridge Pā Triangle, Dartmoor and Havelock Hills sub-region of Hawke’s Bay.

Hawke’s Bay’s warm climate and free draining soils produce sauvignon blanc with ripe fruit characters, balanced by fresh acidity.

    • Appellation: Hawke's Bay
  • Vinification

    • With Sauvignon Blanc grapes of such quality, minimal winemaking means the finer aromatics and flavors are preserved. At the winery, the grapes were chilled, gently pressed and the juice cold-settled before fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

  • Technical Information

    • Varietal Composition: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
    • Alcohol: 13.0%
    • TA: 7.2 g/L
    • p H: 3.43
  • Tasting Notes

    • Clear, brilliant and crystalline, Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2022 appears spun from bright golden light. Lime, passionfruit, guava, and honey-dew melon leap from the glass in this powerful statement of New Zealand’s famous sauvignon blanc expression. Beyond, the palate is rich, layered and juicy. A moreish acidity runs the length of this wine, all the way though to its mouth-watering finish. Deliciousness redefined, Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2022 has arrived.

    • Serving Suggestions: Best served chilled, either as a refreshing pre-dinner glass of wine, or with salads, seafood dishes and lightly spiced Asian foods, fuller flavored seafood and white meat dishes

Reviews

  • Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Hawke’s Bay — 2022 – Wine Advocate – 92 Points

"The 2022 Estate Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc has been fully tank fermented, no solids, but it was left on the lees post-ferment for texture. There are notes of cheesecloth, pineapple lumps, Pink Lady apples and saline acidity. It’s fleshy, with preserved citrus, juicy acidity and plenty of brine, then sugar snap peas, Nashi pears and a hint of guava/lychee."

  • Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Hawke’s Bay — 2022 – James Suckling – 92 Points

"An inviting nose of green apples, pears, lime and dragon fruit. Medium-bodied with supple texture. Elegant and refined with an array of fresh apple and citrus fruit and a succinct finish."
