A wine created in honor of his majesty, King Don Juan Carlos, who visited the winery in 1995. Fruit is hand selected from the small Les Arnes vineyard which is also home to a beautiful 11th-century Romanesque hermitage. Considered one of the most exclusive, limited-production wines in Spain.

- Appellation: DO Penedès
- Soil: The soils derive from Silurian slates (Paleozoic) that are unique within the Penedès region. They are dark in color, shallow, rocky, and drain swiftly. The mineral nature of the soil provides exceptional conditions for growing the Bordeaux varietals.

Vintage Report

There was little rain in 2019 in general, although the rainfall during the growing cycle was within a normal range. On the other hand, overall, it was a year with normal temperatures, but with a hot summer, which brought the harvest period forward by a few days.

- Maceration: 15-20 days maceration
- Aging: 18 months in new French oak barrels

Tasting Notes

Low yield farming welcomes opulence and fine silken tannins. Ripe summer plum, baked cherry and mulberry depth is integrated with generous and lingering notes of cocoa, vanillin and licorice.

“Excellent freshness and intensity of meaty blue fruit here with currants, blackberries, dark plums, peppercorns and chocolate, with dark earth and some spearmint. Crushed stone minerality on the palate, with fantastic freshness. Full-bodied, tight, caressing and perfectly ripe tannins. Already delicious, but will age beautifully.”

"Packs a rich core of savory ground coffee, loamy earth and tar-tinged smoke enmeshed with a pleasing range of ripe black currant and black plum fruit, bay leaf and milled pepper notes. Full-bodied and dense, this expressive red shows muscular tannins, yet is graceful overall and well-knit, with a plush texture and balsamico acidity carrying the range of flavors."
