David Grieve grew up in Michigan, went to college in Texas, and started his career in commercial real estate in San Francisco, never thinking he would end up being a world-class wine producer. In 2002, David purchased a house and 70 acres of land containing nearly 17 acres of planted vines. In 2008, David was introduced to wine industry-veteran Vance Rose, and he and David decided to combine two of their passions — golf and wine — and created Double Eagle, an evocative Bordeaux blend that combines Merlot from the Grieve Family Vineyard in Lovall Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from vineyards in St. Helena.

At the age of 18 (the then-legal drinking age), Vance Rose had his first great wine and learned that there were more than just four types of wine in the world — white, red, pink and sparkling — as he had originally thought there were. Over the next 30-plus years, Vance was seeking, selling and producing wine from California, Australia, France and Spain. In 2008, Vance was introduced to David Grieve, owner of 17 acres of vines in Lovall Valley in Napa County, California. Vance and David decided to combine two of their passions — golf and wine — and created Double Eagle, an evocative Bordeaux blend that combines Merlot from the Grieve Family Vineyard in Lovall Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from vineyards in St. Helena.
