J. Schram Rosé, North Coast – 1998 – 94 points – Wine Enthusiast
94 points

This is a first tête de cuvée rosé from Schramsberg. The North Coast appellation is because the grapes come from four counties. It’s 75% Chardonnay, with the rest Pinot Noir, and it’s seriously good. The residual sugar is noticeable, but the acidity (8.7 grams) is so high that it balances out, and also ensures a long life. Don’t touch until at least 2007, but it’s likely to gain interest and complexity through 2015, at least.”
