  • Tasting Notes

    • Bright ruby red. Ample and intense bouquet with aromas of violets and wisteria in flower, fresh cherries and delicate hints of citron which are intertwined with spicy notes of pink and white pepper corns and a subtle, sweet scent of vanilla pod. Elegant and distinguished, this Rosso di Montalcino has a smooth and medium bodied flavor with a fruity core. This exceptional vintage reveals an impressive tannic structure and a well-balanced fragrant acidity which is typical for the terroir at Tenuta Greppo. The finish is long and savory.

  • Biondi-Santi Rosso di Montalcino DOC – 2016 – James Suckling – 90 Points

A finely structured Rosso with firmness and density, showing plums and a hint of citrus. Medium body. Fresh finish. Drink now.

  • Biondi-Santi Rosso di Montalcino 2015 – Vinous – 94 Points

Il Greppo's 2015 Rosso di Montalcino is absolutely gorgeous. Sweet tobacco, dried red cherry, cedar, rosemary, mint and anise give the Rosso lovely aromatic complexity, but it is the wine's body and resonance that stand out most. A wine of real stature and depth, Biondi-Santi's 2015 Rosso is all class, not to mention a real overachiever in my tastings and a rare Rosso that delivers the goods big time. Sadly, it won't come cheaply.

  • Biondi-Santi Rosso di Montalcino – 2015 – Wine Enthusiast – 91 Points

Delicate scents of rose, wild berry, crushed herb and a whiff of new leather mingle together in the glass. On the linear palate, taut fine-grained tannins support dried cherry, orange zest, star anise and a hint of green tea before a rather drying finish. Drink after 2020.
