Vinification
- Fermentation: Long, gentle pneumatic pressing, “débourbage,” or “settling of the juice,” over 24 hours; then racking and running the must into cask
- Barrel Fermentation: Alcoholic fermentation in oak casks, 25% new (maximum 1/2 Vosges, minimum 1/2 allier)
- Aging: Aged 12 months in cask, placed in tank for 6 months, then prepared for bottling
- Filtration: Homeopathic fining and very light filtering at bottling, if necessary

Domaine Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru — 2019 – Decanter – 96 Points
Balance is always the hallmark of the Bâtard from Leflaive as the fresh minerality of the Puligny side of the vineyard plays against the luxurious and almost tropical notes of the south-facing Chassagne side. Here the wine is a bit restrained on the nose, but the substance and structure is immediately apparent. The 2019 vintage will need time to reveal its full potential, but the intrinsic rich, voluptuous character is evident from the start. Immense length and potential.

Domaine Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru — 2019 – Burghound – 97 Points
An exuberantly floral-suffused nose speaks of citrus, spice, passion fruit, exotic Asian-style tea and a tough of anise. The bigger and richer broad-shouldered flavors remain focused and almost as refined with superb depth and persistence on the impeccably well-balanced finale. This is also very classy and a wine that should age gracefully for several decades. This is also a bonafide stunner of a wine.
