Hyde de Villaine Makes Long-Term Commitment to Napa Valley

ST. HELENA, CA (June 15, 2016) — Hyde de Villaine (HdV) purchased in May 2016 a 33.5 acre parcel at the corner of Silverado Trail and Trancas Street in Napa Valley, California. The property comprises 24 acres of vineyard, a 3,750-square-foot winery and a residence. The location has been the home of HdV since 2003; however, the acquisition marks HdV’s commitment to the Napa Valley and the tradition of family ownership.

James Eyer, General Manager of HdV, stated: “This purchase by the owners of Hyde de Villaine reconfirms their commitment to the Napa Valley. It communicates to our stakeholders, clients and community that we are here for the long-term. At a time when the wine industry is experiencing historic consolidation, the Hyde and de Villaine families are planting more roots in this community and committing to staying a small, authentic and family-owned winery.”

HdV plans to retrofit their existing crush pad to meet current Napa county standards and to replant, where required, sections of the vineyard over the next several years. The replanting will include the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay and a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc; while continuing to focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. James added: “We have no plans on changing, 95% of our fruit will continue to come from Hyde Vineyard; we are merely taking advantage of an outstanding opportunity.”

Hyde de Villaine is a partnership between the Hyde family, owners of the lauded Hyde Vineyard in Carneros, Napa Valley, and the de Villaine family, owners of A&P de Villaine and co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in Burgundy. Led by Larry Hyde, the Hyde de Villaine project was established in 2000 with a focus on Burgundian winemaking philosophies and exclusively sourcing fruit from Hyde Vineyard.
