“New Zealand’s iconic producer of Chardonnay grows its wines near Auckland, rather than in the more celebrated, cooler regions to the south, yet the wines have tremendous vibrancy. Hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and fermented in oak barrels with indigenous yeast, this ’07 got the full Burgundian treatment. Despite 100 percent malolactic and 11 months in barrel, it delivers mouthwatering acidity and bright flavors.”
