A powerful, muscular style, exhibiting concentrated cherry, plum and berry flavors, accented by herbs and tobacco, all framed by vivid acidity and beefy tannins. A bit brooding now, this should develop nicely over the next decade. Best from 2021 thro

Grounded by a beam of pure cherry, this red is wrapped in an embrace of dense, finely wrought tannins. Shows a licorice chewiness, along with sage and sandalwood notes that linger on the fresh aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2045.

A little smokier in aroma and fuller in flavor than the rest of the range of Davies Pinots, this wine tastes robust, ripe and exotic, but still has bright acidity and firm tannins to give structure. It is full bodied, nicely oaky and well balanced. B

Aromas of cherries, cream and roses follow through to a medium body with beautifully depth of fruit and a long, fine tannin structure. Hard to not drink now. Better in 2020, but it’s already beautiful.

The 2017 Dolcetto d'Alba Mandorlo is a generous, luscious, sweet and fruit-forward wine. It is teeming with ripe blackberry and sweet spice, yet there is also a very attractive tone of new leather, like when you buy a new pair of designer shoes. It should be noted that this wine only sees stainless steel, so those savory flavors come from the grape itself...

The 2017 Langhe Nascetta del Comune di Novello Anas-Cëtta is fermented and aged on the lees in stainless steel. The creaminess you taste here comes thanks to the natural characteristics of the grape and that 180-day sur lie aging. This is a fresh, lean- to medium-bodied white with pretty aromas of stone fruit, melon and Golden Delicious apple.
