Pale straw. Slightly teenage reticence on the nose. Flinty character on the nose and some breadth on the palate. Then it tightens up – almost dries – at the end.

Sleek and slightly muted nose. Teenage again. Chalky texture and quite blowsy, almost floral, fruit. Reticent. Drink 2019-2030

Light struck-match nose and then quite opulent fruit on the palate. Tense and vibrant. Very long. The most appealing 2016 so far.

Hugely intense and liqueur-like. A bit like a Kumeu River Chardonnay compote. Really dense and jewelly and long. Almost flashy!

Hints of lychee and viognier suffuse the cool and restrained floral, citrus and petrol aromas that offer just enough Chablis character to be convincing. I like the sleek mouth feel of the delicious, vibrant and softly stony medium-bodied flavors...

This wine has changed dramatically since the sale of Laroche as it once could be fairly described as an oak bomb with some white wine buried underneath - not necessarily a bad wine but not a very good Blanchots. By contrast there is good freshness t

Once again there is a touch of the exotic to the honeysuckle, mango, lychee and intensely petrol-suffused aromas. There is reasonably good density to the utterly delicious flavors that are a lovely combination of minerality and verve while offering m

This too flirts with the exotic but in this case it is so subtle as to play a barely minor role in the primary aromas of petrol, crushed herb, pineapple and quinine. There is moderately good punch and density to the delicious and moderately complex f

The 2016 Barbera d'Alba Bricco dei Merli is a beautiful rendition with a soft and sensual disposition. The mouthfeel of this vintage is noticeably smoother. The tannins and the acidity are hardly evident because they are so neatly folded into the rich texture of this first-rate Barbera. You are aware of, but only in a peripheral way, the freshness and the structure inherent to this Barbera. Dark fruit, candied cherry and exotic spice distinguish the bouquet. Some 10,000 bottles were made of the well-priced red.

"The blackcurrant fruit is so vivid it leaps out of the glass at you, but there’s also a hint of tobacco. Ripe and succulent with a creamy mid-palate and some nice, supple tannins at the long, moderately dry finish. From organically grown grapes."

"With its full, oaky nose and essence-like, sweet fruit, this warm and generous red has plenty of healthy tannins but finishes slightly sweet. With slightly less ripeness this would rate even higher. Drink now."

"Elegant and flavorful, the 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé is a definite success from this new producer, offering up a classic bouquet of honeyed citrus fruits and spring flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied."

"The 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé En Bertillonne is a bit more structured and also a bit more marked by wood than the domaine's regular Pouilly-Fuissé, but it's also very appealing, offering up notes of peaches, beeswax and honeysuckle."

"The 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé Aux Bouthières is excellent, unfurling from the glass with a generous bouquet of honeyed peaches and buttered orchard fruit, accented by bright touches of citrus zest and flowers."
