Chardonnay Route 121, Carneros – 2014

Wine Enthusiast

"Fresh and complete, with subtle oak and ripeness, this white shines in a lilt of pear, lime and tangerine, showing plenty of minerality. It remains bright despite medium weight."

Biondi-Santi
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Annata — 2012

Vinous
94 points

“Bright red. Fresh, complex aromas of sweet red berries, pomegranate, sour red cherry, orange peel, violet and brown spices. Bright and juicy, with building density and multilayered flavors of sour red cherries and raspberry, complicated by a hint of peach. Finishes long and clean with strong mineral and floral nuances. This is an extremely fruity and remarkably ready to drink Brunello for this property, known for tough as nails wines when young that normally require lots of patience. Still, despite its obvious upfront charm, this has real structure and depth and will age well. Easily one of the top three Brunellos of the vintage.”

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva – 2011

Vinous
94+ points

“Dark red. Musky nuances give way to brighter red fruit, licorice and herbal aromas. Rich and dense, with flavors of red cherry and minerals lifted by hints of orange peel and bergamot, not to mention noteworthy but harmonious acidity. Finishes long with youthfully chewy tannins and lingering hints of violet…”

Biondi-Santi
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Annata — 2012

The Wine Advocate
90 points

“It's always such a pleasure and an honor to be in front of a bottle of Biondi-Santi. These wines deliver a sense of history and tradition that puts them into a very elite group of Italian icons. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Annata shows a medium garnet color with pretty ruby highlights. The bouquet emits dark fruit, cassis, balsam herb, tar and cola. This vintage shows the classic aromas that are associated with the venerated Il Greppo estate … Following rigorous tradition, this wine is aged in large Slavonian oak casks for three years. Some 50,000 bottles are produced.”

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva – 2011

The Wine Advocate
92 points

“The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva makes a bold and more articulate statement … That extra year of aging has contributed to more powerful aromas of dark fruit, balsam herb and spice. There is extra fiber and texture here overall. This Riserva shows a higher degree of density and a tighter embroidery with dark fruit, spice and tobacco. … if there's one thing the wines of Biondi-Santi have demonstrated over the years, it is that they get better with time. Set this bottle aside in your cellar.”

Chablis Grand Cru Les Blanchots – 2015

"Enticing apple and marzipan nose with a light toastiness. Good attack, lean and precise, the palate has energy and flair but not at the expense of ripeness and weight. Mineral and saline, with impeccable balance and a long finish."

"Restrained apple and green pea nose. The attack is marked by good acidity that gives tension and bite, and although the fruit is subdued now the persistence is admirable. Elegant and very long."

Ravera Barolo DOCG – 2013

“The 2013 Barolo Ravera is dark, powerful and inviting. Here the flavors tend towards the darker end of Nebbiolo spectrum, with firm supporting tannins that add to an impression of power. Sweet spice, leather and plum notes develop as the wine gains volume in the glass..."

Cascina Nuova Barolo DOCG – 2013

Vinous
91 points

“Cogno's 2013 Barolo Cascina Nuova is terrific. Bright red cherry, plum, sweet flowers, white pepper all give the Cascina Nuova its distinctive, bright profile. The tannins are naturally a bit raw at this early stage, but the Cascina Nuova is a superb entry-level wine with plenty of Ravera character.”

Bricco Pernice Barolo DOCG – 2012

Vinous
95 points

“The 2012 Barolo Bricco Pernice is gracious, aromatic and lifted. Bright red cherry, blood orange and white pepper are some of the many notes that lift from the glass. Deceptively medium in body, the 2012 offers notable intensity in the way that only Nebbiolo can deliver. The tannins are naturally quite raw at this stage, so patience is essential.”

Vigna Elena Barolo Riserva DOCG – 2011

Vinous
94 points

“Cogno's 2011 Barolo Riserva Vigna Elena is soft, round and inviting, with all of the richness and soft contours of the vintage. Dark red cherry, plum, menthol, licorice and dark spices infuse the creamy, resonant finish. Best of all, the 2011 will drink well with minimal cellaring, in relative terms, of course.”

Domaine Laroche
Chablis Grand Cru Les Blanchots La Réserve de l’Obédience – 2015

Decanter
96 points

"Powerful mineral nose, has heft and assertiveness. Aged mostly in oak, but not new oak, so the wood adds texture rather than flavour. Very rich with a distinct sucrosity, it seems to have less initial grip than the regular Blanchots, but then the mineral bite and grip creep up on the finish. Very long."

Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru – 2015

Decanter
96 points

"The Chevalier is exceptional this year, very reminiscent of the domaine's lovely 2005. A cool and reserved nose of lemon oil, crushed stones, white flowers and touch of subtle noisette introduces a powerful, full-bodied palate with bottomless depth, impeccable focus and tingling minerality. The finish is long, penetrating and very racy."

“Yields were down in 2015, but intensity is up, giving this medium-bodied, silky wine the potential to drink well through at least 2025. Hickory smoke outlines white peach before ending in a long flurry of lime zest.”

“Usually the bigger, more opulent of the Kumeu River Chardonnays, the 2015 version of the Coddington is medium to full in weight, but strikingly focused and vibrant. Bacony smoke notes frame white peach flavors, finishing long.”

Chardonnay, Estate, Kumeu – 2015
