"The 2021 Camarcanda is a fabulous wine from the Gaja family, the best they have ever made at their Bolgheri property. The wines here have been through some ups and downs, but there seems to be a greater focus over these last few years. Silky, aromatic and wonderfully pure, the 2021 Camarcanda offers a super, contemporary expression of Bolgheri with plenty of coastal sunshine and warmth, but nothing excessive. Silky tannins frame the exceptionally polished, nuanced finish. The 2021 is so alluring."

“A special wine that shows how balance makes the difference. Each whiff brings intriguing aromas that all work in tandem with notes of black plum, cherry, wild thyme, dried rose and violet with a crushed rock mineral note that leads into the well-balanced, yet firm palate. Generous mixed-berry fruits on the palate yield to the savory and roasted-earth element on the classy finish.”

“The glass fills as if a bowl of cherries were present with fresh thyme, allspice and roasted coffee. Gripping and well structured, the palate is generous with its plum and other black-hued fruits that turn around a core of savory, herbal and earthy notes, finishing with firm tannins.”

“Always a lively and energetic Prosecco, the Bisol Molera pops from the glass with a mixture of ripe orchard fruits, apricots and fresh white flowers. The fruit-forward palate is balanced with bright and fresh acidity that gives way to a soft and gentle mousse.”

“The nose balances tart cherries and cranberries with savory undertones of pencil lead, herbs and medicinal licorice, before the palate leans into sweeter fruit, without losing that medicinal quality. Contoured tannins and lively acid accentuate a latent, earthy smokiness.”

“An earthy, savory nose recalls the volcanic soil of Etna’s slopes, while the astringency of cranberries, hibiscus, cherries and fennel provide the sparkle of the Italian sun glinting off the snow. The cherries dance on the palate, but a bitter citrus undertone highlights enduring notes of earth and herbs. Acid buzzes around dusty, chewy tannins.”

“The nose is primarily savory, with notes of balsamic, cured meat and stone, while undertones of raspberries and roses provide a light, floral fruitiness. Berries shine on the palate, which is intense and dynamic from the first drop, as the meatiness also persists to create a confident, self-assured wine. On the finish, a wave of salt crashes over everything, like sunset by the sea.”

“The nose is a well-stocked kitchen, with coffee always ready, a decadent spice drawer and expensive balsamic, and the aromas of cherries and soil wafting in from the garden. On the palate, notes of vanilla and candied orange underscore the cherries’ juicy sweetness, while the savory notes linger as undertones, before lithe tannins and hot acid usher in a long finish.”

“The nose blends the adventurous aromas of leather, stone and coffee with lighter notes of vanilla, cherries and bitter orange peel. On the palate, a current of blood orange bolsters the cherry element, while the vanilla sweetness pushes back against a swelling bitter undertone. Taut tannins march into a warm finish.”

“The color of cherry pie filling, this wine has a nose of blackberry preserves, dried cranberry and baking spices. Velvety tannins provide a backdrop for black cherry, Chambord, ground black pepper, clove and butterscotch flavors. Soft notes of rose petal and smoke linger on the palate.”

“This combines fruit expressiveness and pleasing savory qualities. Deep purple in color, this wine has a nose of black plum, black tea, pencil shavings, dried violet blossom and forest floor. Black fruit is the foundation of this wine with earthy notes layered on top.”

“Its delicacy brings a certain charm. Toast, cream, rocks and seashells all weave between peach pit, melon, pineapple rind and ginger. The palate is wonderfully structured, tight and focused but with concentration, freshness and balance. Still young, it could age for many years but has an approachability now, too.”

“This is a powerful, some - what reductive vintage of Maté’s. Aromas of nuts, gunsmoke and toast frame concentrated stone and tropical fruit. There’s lot of oomph here, but a delicacy of fruit, too. In a polished style, and still very much a baby, this is structured for the long road ahead and should age gracefully for decades to come.”

“A flinty, roasted nut character edges the zingy tropical, peach and melon fruit. It follows on the palate where power is tempered by a saltwater-like acidity. The fruit concentration holds up the toasty oak.”

“The nose effortlessly blends savory aromas of soil, clean wood and salt with the semisweet astringency of hibiscus, rose petals and wild strawberries. On the palate, raspberries briefly bolster the strawberry, before a powerful earthiness takes over. Acid brings a glint of spice as it sparks off polished, smooth tannins.”
