A smoky and luxurious barrel scent introduces this wine, woven in harmony with the rose overtones of the fruit. The wine is powerful and gracious, blackberry flavors filling the tannic extract.

Red fruit and spice. The tannins are gentle and silky, with a bergamot spice.

Champ du Cour is a windy single-vineyard sited on typical granite/clay soils. Very attractive violet and peony aromas with intense dark berry and cherry fruit on the palate, backed up with brisk acidity. Refined, elegant Moulin-à-Vent with character but also a lot of class. Slightly grainy tannins suggest a few months in bottle will reap further rewards.

Deep ruby. Powerful, spice-accented dark berry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of musky earth, mocha and violet. Densely packed and expansive on the palate, spicy lift to the appealingly sweet bitter cherry, blackberry and floral pastille flavors. Finishes very long and chewy, with dusty tannins building slowly.

Shimmering ruby. Powerful blackberry, cherry and licorice aromas are complicated by suggestions of smoky minerals and violet. Well-concentrated and broad in the mouth, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors enlivened by a snap of cracked pepper. Slowly building tannins frame the finish, which lingers with very good, dark-fruit driven persistence.

A sumptuous, wonderfully expressive wine. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, licorice and spice all flesh out in a racy Beaujolais endowed with terrific richness. The 2018 can be enjoyed now, but it also has the richness to age gracefully in the cellar for years to come.

A selection from the three top vineyards in the estate, this wine is rich and still young. Serious tannins give the wine structure. Partial oak aging adds richness and spice, improving the potential for aging.

Floral and delicately spicy with a hint of ripe mulberry, this is a sophisticated and elegant wine with a long, graceful finish. The healthy tannins give it some aging potential.

Full blackberry fruit, generous body and lively acidity make this Moulin-à-Vent easy to enjoy, and the well drafted balance of discreet tannins and mineral acidity at the finish provides very satisfying harmony.

A 13-acre vineyard near the top of the Moulin-à-Vent slope has produced this dense and rich wine. Powerful tannins and black plum and cherry fruits are developing, but still young.

This has a quiet, cool, character which promises a long future. Ripe tannins and under-stated oak add to the structure and appeal.

Elegantly textured, with glossy tannins encasing raspberry coulis and ripe cherry notes infused with black tea, orange zest, licorice and sleek mineral details. A serious wine that should age well. Drink now through 2030.

Rounded and ripe forest fruits, plums and sweet raspberry. Soft and unctuous on the palate with fleshy red fruit. Long, savoury finish.

The light tannins are beautifully textured and encase vivid raspberry and currant flavors matched with woody spice, licorice and floral details. Undertones of mineral and spice sail through the tangy finish. Drink now through 2026.

Notes of menthol and wood toast set off agreeably fresh aromas of earthy and peppery aromas of dark currant, violet and newly turned earth. There is again an attractive texture though not quite the same density to the medium weight flavors that flash a touch of minerality on the better-balanced and lingering finish. While this could certainly be enjoyed now, I would suggest allowing it at least a few years of cellaring first.

Once again there is ample menthol and wood influence present on the very fresh nose of warm earth, various red berries, plum and a pretty violet whiff. The succulent but decidedly punchy medium-bodied flavors possess a slightly more refined texture while delivering fine length on the ever-so-slightly warm finish. This could use more depth, but the development potential appears up to the task. Worth checking out.

Generous amounts of menthol and oak stop just short of fighting with the more complex aromas that offer up plenty of pepper, spice and baked plum. The supple, round and relatively easy-going middle weight flavors possess an expansive mid-palate that tightens up immediately on the tightly wound finish that makes clear that this will need at least some patience first. With that said, this is not so structured that it couldn’t be approached with pleasure in a few years.

The 2009 Moulin-à-Vent is in an ideal place for drinking now. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, spice, earthiness dried herbs, mint and licorice are the signatures of a wine that is starting to show the signs of aromatic and flavor maturity. Even so, the 2009 retains a good bit of freshness and punch. Readers who look to explore Beaujolais with bottle age will adore the 2009. It was done with destemmed fruit and aged 80% in oak and 20% in stainless steel.
