"This 2019 Rosso takes its time to open, the rigid, iron-like tannins and earthy scents slowly giving way to pure red-cherry flavors laced with licorice, menthol and a distinctly ferrous note. Cellar the wine for at least two years before cracking it open with prime rib."

"Biondi-Santi's 2016 Riserva is for old-school Brunello lovers with plenty of patience. Initial aromas of damp leaves and rust gradually recede as vigorous red cherry and raspberry flavors come to the fore, still tinged with hints of rust and baked clay yet taking on notes of savory herbs and warm spices. The wine continues to gain verve and complexity over the course of several days, suggesting this will really start to sing after a decade in the cellar."

“Suave, elegant and wonderfully expressive. Lifted aromatics and silky tannins give Camarcanda tons of finesse. Deceptive in its mid-weight feel, the 2020 is beautifully resonant. Pretty floral and spice notes open the finish effortlessly. The 2020 is without question the finest Camarcanda to date. Bravo.”

“The 2021 Magari is the most elegant Magari I can remember tasting. Vibrant, nuanced and medium in body, the 2021 possesses notable energy from start to finish. All the elements are so nicely balanced. Dark cherry, mocha, dried herbs, licorice and menthol are finely sculpted in this super-expressive Bolgheri red. Terrific.”

'“A golden appearance. It displays a rich, lightly oxidative nose of baked apples, honey and an atypical but intriguing herbal character akin to fennel. Full and silky in the mouth, there's an appealing phenolic hug on the finish. This is an attractive wine.”

“The 2018 Scipio is wonderfully energetic and perfumed. Crushed flowers, mocha, tobacco, cedar and worn-in leather meld into a core of dark-toned fruit. In 2018, Scipio is on the more delicate side of things, but it all works well.”

“In contrast to Montalcino's recent string of hot and dry vintages, the 2018 growing season saw persistent rains and moderate temperatures that produced some lean wines. Sugarille bucked that trend with ample ripeness in its juicy red cherry and raspberry flavors. Supple tannins frame the fruit as hints of menthol and sweet spice enliven the finish. Impressive for its precision, clarity and depth, this has plenty of aging potential.”
