Transparent ruby. Warm, mellow, well-melded tertiary aromas on the nose. Good freshness on the finish as well as the ripe fruit. Nothing like a bordeaux – softer and sweeter initially with much less aggressive tannin – and why should it be? Very mellifluous. Lovely drinking now with the slightest hint of spearmint and some herbal quality. Great to have such mellowness so soon.

Dramatic diurnal shifts in the 2016 growing season preserved fresh acidity in the grapes and amped up this wine’s gorgeous scents of lavender and eucalyptus. It’s a complete wine, unfolding with juicy dark-berry and plum flavors couched in a velvety texture, finishing long and balanced on lingering spice notes.

Bright sunshine and constant winds at Feudo Montoni gave a mid-weight wine with beautiful freshness. Meaty tannins frame flavors of dark plum, tobacco and carob, taking on notes of blood and iron that lend a pleasant rusticity to the wine.

There’s an airy and cooling mineral freshness to the 2020 Catarratto Masso that keeps coming back to the glass. Apricot, peach skins and lemon zest make for an invigorating bouquet. It’s a rich and pliant yet buzzing with energy derived from a mix of zesty acids and sour citrus. Hints of green melon and apple linger long through the finale. The 2020 is an excellent example of just how much character and balance Catarratto can obtain in the right hands.

The 2020 Grillo Timpa is stunning, wafting up with exotic florals and citrus tones, as a more defind bouquet of tangerine, kiwi and candied ginger evolved with time in the glass. It filles the palate with silky waves of ripe tropical fruits, all kept in check through vibrant acidity and a twang of sour lime toward the close. Pineapple mingles with mango and papaya through the long, tension-filled finale, leaving the senses completely refreshed and aching for another sip.”

Really lovely and alluring, with buttered brioche, creamed yellow apple, verbena and melon notes swirling around together. A salted butter detail drapes the finish, which has underlying zip and a floral edge for balance.

The mineral quality resonates on an impressively persistent finish that features a lingering floral quality and a hint of tarragon.

This keeps you at the edge of the glass with a delicate, yet stunning bouquet of ripe peach laced with candied ginger and a dusting of sweet spice. Its textures are flesh, yet the expression is lifted and spry, with a vivid display of freshly sliced pear, while drenched in minerals and motivated by a lively acidity. There’s a crunchy feel through the finale, as the palate reverberates with residual tension, tapering off to a hint of sour melon.

Limpid orange pink. Bright and sharply focused on the nose, displaying fresh red berry, pit fruit and orange zest aromas. Silky and precise on the palate, offering juicy strawberry and nectarine flavors and a hint of blood orange. Shows good depth but comes off lithe, closing with a very good, minerally persistence.

Mid crimson. Notably spicy nose – riper than many an Anjou Rouge. Supple, with the undertow of ink and pencil shavings of pure Cabernet Franc but notably ripe. A luscious mouthful that is definitively varietal. Very satisfying.

Very dark crimson. Sumptuous nose that's silky with a bit more substance underneath than the pure Cab Franc. Luscious and fresh but with pure, unadulterated fruit. Extremely seductive but with some freshness too. Lovely crunchy finish.

Pale lemon yellow. Amazing life in the nose of this considering the youth of the vines. Excellent acidity and fine texture.

Mid garnet colour. A certain wildness on the nose and then great gentleness of texture. Serious wine; possibly the most serious Grolleau I have ever tasted. Relatively low acid and low tannin – ready to gobble. Great seriousness of intent. Quite long.
