Château du Moulin-à-Vent
Château du Moulin-à-Vent, Moulin-à-Vent – 2017

Vinous
91 Points

The 2017 Moulin-à-Vent is born from a challenging vintage in which hail took with it half of the estate’s yields and two-thirds of the production of this wine. In the glass, the 2017 is soft, fruit and absolutely delicious. Although not terribly complex, the 2017 is a wine of immediate pleasure and a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Sweet red cherry, cinnamon, and dried flowers add intrigue.

Mâcon Solutré – 2018

Vinous
90 Points

The 2018 Mâcon-Solutré is a wine of nuance and understatement more than anything else. Lemon confit, orchard fruit, white flowers and sweet oak all grace this focused, mid-weight white Burgundy. Time in the glass brings out a range of more tropical flavors. Although the 2018 is a touch compact, the persistent finish makes up for that.

Mâcon Verzé Le Monté – 2018

Vinous
91 Points

The Mâcon-Verzé Le Monté is a generous, inviting wine. Creamy and ample on the palate, the Monté reveals shades of tangerine oil, chamomile, marzipan and yellow flowers, all in an expansive style that has a ton to offer. Open-knit and fleshy, the 2018 shows a lot of immediacy.

Mâcon Verzé Les Chênes – 2018

Vinous
90 Points

The 2018 Mâcon-Verzé Les Chenes is airy and gracious in the glass. Ripe pear, apricot, jasmine and passionfruit give the 2018 an exotic, floral feel that is impossible to miss. On the palate, the Chenes is airy and nicely lifted, not to mention super appealing. This is such a refined Burgundy.

Pouilly-Fuissé En Vigneraie – 2018

Vinous
90 Points

The 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé En Vigneraie possesses lovely earthy and mineral tones that play off the natural radiance of the fruit in 2018. Apricot, orange confit and tropical overtones all build with a bit of time in the glass. The Vigneraie is a bit introspective and serious in demeanor, but also has a lot to offer.

Pouilly Fuissé La Chaneau – 2018

Vinous
92 Points

The 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Le Chaneau is bright, translucent and full of energy. A hint of reduction in the aromatics leads to a core of citrus confit, white flowers, mint and white pepper. Aromatically high toned and chiseled on the palate, the 2018 is superb. Bright saline notes round out the precise finish.

Pouilly-Fuissé Aux Bouthières – 2018

Vinous
94 Points

The 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Aux Bouthières is an incredibly distinctive wine. Broad, ample and creamy, the 2018 possesses tremendous textural resonance and nuance that only builds over time. Lemon confit, white flowers, almonds, white pepper and a touch of reduction give the 2018 striking flavor complexity, but it is the wine's substance and overall depth that are most compelling. The 2018 is a fabulous wine by any measure. Don't miss it.

Pouilly-Fuissé En Bertilionne – 2018

Vinous
92 Points

2018 Pouilly-Fuissé En Bertilionne is fabulous. A wine of precision and energy, the Bertilionne has just enough freshness to balance the natural generosity of the year. Lemon confit, white flowers, orchard fruit and saline notes are all finely knit. I very much like the translucence and cut here. In a word: impressive.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Boisrenard Blanc — 2019

The Wine Advocate
93+ Points

There are just 4,000 bottles of the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Boisrenard, which comes from 70- to 100-year-old vines. It's mainly Clairette and Roussanne, but includes the other four white varieties authorized in the appellation as well. Vinified and matured in large-format oak, it does show some classy hints of cedar shavings on the nose and a wonderfully slinky, silky texture on the medium to full-bodied palate, both serving to highlight the wine's restrained melon and citrus flavors. Impressively concentrated and balanced...

Châteauneuf-du-Pape – 2018

The Wine Advocate
92 Points

Hints of roast meat and espresso are backed by plummy notes on the nose of the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape. It's a dense, concentrated and somewhat sturdy wine, full-bodied and muscular yet svelte, with blackberry and chocolate notes emerging on the long, silky-textured finish. Solidly built and nicely balanced, it should drink well for at least a decade.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Boisrenard — 2018

The Wine Advocate
94 Points

Cedary overtones appear on the nose of the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Boisrenard, a portion of which is aged in new oak. That said, it's not overdone, with plenty of cola, plum and spice notes coming through on the full-bodied palate. Velvety and supple in the mouth, this seductive offering should drink well for a decade.

Rasteau — 2018

The Wine Advocate
90 Points

While based in Châteaneuf du Pape, this biodynamically run estate's 2018 Rasteau is a solid alternative for much less money. A blend of 80% Grenache, 17% Syrah and 3% Mourvèdre, it offers scents of sun-warmed stones, hints of garrigue and bold flavors of black cherries and blackberries. It's medium to full-bodied and supple, with a round, silky feel on the palate. Hints of dark chocolate and a cocoa powder-like texture mark the lengthy finish.

Crémant d’Alsace Brut Rosé – Non Vintage

Wine Enthusiast
90 Points

Yeasty mellowness is all that the shy nose gives away. The dark-pink hue of this wine promises body and fruit, which duly appear on the creamy palate. Mellow strawberry and apple pair with gentle freshness. A chalky texture supports the frothy foam while freshness highlights the dry roundness of the finish.

Val di Suga
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG – 2015

Vinous
91 Points

The 2015 Val di Suga Brunello di Montalcino is spicy and intense, leading off with dried cherries, cedar spice box, savory herbs and dusty rose. Silky, almost creamy textures flood the palate with ripe red and black fruits, contrasting saline minerals with cooling acids, as fine tannins slowly settle upon the senses. The finish is long and structured, mixing youthful tension with pretty inner florals, yet the best is yet to come with medium-term cellaring.

A compact, dense red, both in terms of fruit and tannins. Cherry, strawberry, iron, tobacco and tar flavors hold court while the vivid acidity and beefy tannins lend structure. Terrific length. Everything is in the right place; this just needs time to harmonize. Best from 2023 through 2045. From Italy.

Val di Suga
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Vigna Spuntali – 2013

Wine & Spirits
93 Points

Val di Suga owns vineyard plots in three different sectors of the Montalcino zone and vinifies the fruit seperatley to produce three single-site wines. Vigna Spuntali lies southwest of the town, just 25 miles from the Tyrrhenian Sea, where sandy soils and long, sunny days produced a boldly ripe wine saturated with fleshy cherry and plum flavors. The wine aged for two years in a 300-liter French oak barrels that enhanced the richness with notes of toasted almond and dark spice. It's powerful wine destined for the cellar.

Val di Suga
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Poggio al Granchio – 2013

Wine & Spirits
91 Points

Poggio al Ganchio strethes along Montalcino's southeastern side, the vines rooted in galestro-rich soils at elevations reaching nearly 1,500 feed. Aged in large French oak vats for 30 months, this wine is the most understated of Val di Suga's three single-site bottlings in 2013, hemmed in by powerful, meaty tannins and pronounced mineral tones. Flavors of cherry and red currant emerge with exposure to air, accented by note of white pepper, fennel and blood orange. Hold on to this for at least five years, and sever it with braised pork shoulder.
