  • Introduction

    • WINERY The Torres family established their Rioja winery in 2005 in the municipality of Labastida, the very heart of Rioja Alavesa, inspired by a keen awareness of the region’s winegrowing potential, which makes it possible to produce high-quality wines with a unique personality and great aging potential.

WINE Altos Ibéricos Crianza represents a new take on La Rioja. This light, elegant and modern interpretation presents the essence of Tempranillo in all its beauty. The Crianza offers a bright and contemporary red with smooth juicy tannin, elevated aromas and full-bodied fruit. Named after Alto Otero, a beautiful local enclave, Altos Ibéricos is also inspired by one of the region’s most iconic species: the Iberian ibex or wild goat.

  • Vineyard Profile

    • Sourced predominantly from Rioja Alavesa, the cooler of Rioja’s subregions, this 100% Tempranillo displays a naturally higher-toned acidity without the blending of other varieties. The vines are 60-80 years old on average and some of the oldest in Rioja, providing low yields of concentrated fruit.

    • Appellation: DOCa Rioja
    • Cultivation: Sustainable, Solar
    • Vine Age: 60-80 years old
  • Vintage Report

    • 2020 was an atypical year. We experienced a warmer-thanusual winter and early spring, followed by an uncommonly cool summer. During the growth season, temperatures were lower compared to the previous year, while precipitation levels were higher. Nevertheless, 2020 was generally a rainy year, particularly evident during the growth season and at year’s end. Rain played a decisive role during the ripening period and even influenced the optimal moment to begin harvesting.

  • Tasting Notes

    • The wine has a dark cherry red color that is very opaque. It has intense and fragrant aromas, with exquisite fruit notes of raspberry jam and spicy hints of green peppercorn. There is also a pleasant note that reminds of toasted bread. On the palate, the wine is warm and has velvety, juicy tannins that are well balanced by the oak aging.
