Bricco dei Merli Barbera d’Alba DOC

The 2016 Barbera d'Alba Bricco dei Merli is a beautiful rendition with a soft and sensual disposition. The mouthfeel of this vintage is noticeably smoother. The tannins and the acidity are hardly evident because they are so neatly folded into the rich texture of this first-rate Barbera. You are aware of, but only in a peripheral way, the freshness and the structure inherent to this Barbera. Dark fruit, candied cherry and exotic spice distinguish the bouquet. Some 10,000 bottles were made of the well-priced red.

The 2016 Barbera d'Alba Bricco dei Merli is one of the highlights in Elvio Cogno's range of entry-level offerings. Pilant, deep and seductive, with tremendous overall depth, the 2016 is all class. Bright red cherry, plum, rose petal mint and licorice build into the creamy, voluptuous finish. What a gorgeous wine this is.

Attractive combination of ripe fruit and vanilla come through on the nose and palate. Medium body and a delicious finish. Drink now.

This is firing on all cylinders, featuring blackberry, dark plum, chocolate and spice flavors allied to a solid structure. Long, if still a bit compact and square on the finish. Drink now through 2024.
