Domaine Laroche
Chablis Premier Cru Les Vaillons Vieilles Vignes
Les Vaillons is one of the largest Premier Cru vineyards in Chablis, located
in a valley to the southwest of the town of Chablis. This South / East oriented vineyard with 65 year old vines is usually the first harvested at the domaine. Giving intense wines with stonefruit and oriental spice aromas.
Domaine Laroche owns 2.17ha of this Premier Cru (105 ha in total). South-Eastern exposure is perfect for great maturities. Limestone marls and Kimmeridgian limestone soils are paramount in this Premier Cru. The 65 year old vines are deeply rooted and extract many available minerals.

There is a velvety character in this wine that comes from the sunny character of the vineyard. Perfectly ripe Chardonnay grapes grown on old vines give Vaillons a typical oriental spice overtone. On the palate it offers intensity but never lacks the elegance of the best premier crus of Chablis.

2023
"The 2023 Chablis Vaillons Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has a touch of reduction on the nose, but there is definitely a decent Vaillons behind that, which the mineralité percolates through. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with a subtle vanilla pod note mixed with wild peach. This has fine weight and tension with commendable complexity on the finish. The 2023 is lovely."
