Château du Moulin-à-Vent
Les Vérillats
Les Vérillats is one of the earliest delineated terroirs of Moulin-à-Vent. Located above the windmill, on the top of the appellation, it has an eastern exposure with old vines and a panoramic view.
‘Les Vérillats’ stand at the very top of an old granitic mount at 280 meters high. The topsoils are very thin (approx. 60cm) and trellis stakes cannot always be fully anchored. There are specific granitic soils (gorrhe), laying over deeper soils rich in manganese and metallic oxides. The vines are 70 years old with eastern exposure and are planted in densities ranging from 10,000-12,500 vines per hectare.

"Pureed red raspberry, dried hay and graphite aromas play on the nose. A subtle layer of dried herbs gives added dimension and paves the way for developing complexity. Pair with quickly sauteed steak, quinoa burgers and bulgogi."
