Famille Joly
Clos de la Bergerie
Clos de la Bergerie provides a unique interpretation of site, taking in the moderating and gentle east facing slopes of AOC Savennières Roche aux Moines. The Joly family owns 2.77 hectares of the appellation.
Coming from the gentle east facing slopes of AOC Savennières Roche aux Moines. The vineyard is comprised of the same soil composition as Coulée de Serrant, schist and quartz, but with deeper soil and milder slopes, allowing the maturity to peak just slightly later. The 40 year old vones are planted at a density of 4,800-6,700 vines per hectare.

A very nice balance, complexity and intense deepness. A wine that of course deserves to be a bit forgotten in your cellar.

"This is an icon Savennières from a laurel-deserving producer. You’ll smile when you put your nose in the glass because this wine unconsciously draws that reaction. Ripe green- and golden orchard aromas fill the nose and motivate the palate towards peach stone fruit and dried white blossom. Open the bottle the day before drinking to experience the wine at its peak; also decant for the gold star. ."
