Domaine du Nozay
Clos du Nozay
Considered one of the Domaines top cuvées from 50 year old vines grown in Kimmeridgian marls, 220 meters high at the bottom of the Nozay’s valley with slight eastern facing slopes. This terroir is very rich in shell fossils and has the particularity of whitening as it dries, hence its local name of Terres Blanches “white lands”.
The famous terroir of Sancerre, known as “Terres Blanches” (white lands), promotes self-defense and good health for the vine. The 50 year old vines are planted on east facing slopes at 220 meters in evelation. Pruning, disbudding, and training techniques are used to create a favorable micro-climate. The soil is managed for the benefit of the biomass and the vine. The Domaine also experiments with sonic stimulation in the vineyards. Speaker towers emit tonal sequences throughout the day to enhance sap circulation and overall plant health.

A golden yellow color, very luminous which will allow the dazzling of our palate and will release all its length, with supple acidity and tannic structure. On the nose, white flower and citrus fruits are lifted very slightly by the saline sides of the wood and on the palate, we find rich full-bodied flavors of pear, its exotic fruit, concentration, and balanced acidity. It is a wine of great finesse and which will please you with its power.

"There’s attractive concentration to the star fruit, yuzu cream and yellow apple notes, all cut by a racy acid structure and mineral intensity. Shows complexity, with honeysuckle, blanched almond, straw, smoke and herbs chiming in. Tension stays high through the long finish, with pretty potpourri details."
