Bricco Pernice Ravera Barolo DOCG
Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice, named after a small hill where partridges nest, is the latest wine from Cogno. It is the result of years of hard work and a fulfilled dream. This wine comes from a beautiful vineyard in Novello, in the historic part of the Ravera cru, where the exceptional microclimate produces superb Barolo. It was dreamt of by Elvio and achieved by Valter and Nadia.
Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice comes from a prime vineyard in a warm, sheltered area of the Ravera MGA. The soil is rich in limestone and clay, with traces of sand, setting it apart from other parts of the Ravera cru. The vines, aged 30 to 55 years, are grown sustainably at a density of 5,000 vines per hectare, with a south and southwest exposure that ensures optimal sunlight. This unique terroir produces a Barolo that reflects the distinct character of the Ravera cru.

This Barolo is a polished wine that reflects the style of the Ravera cru. Layers of sweet red fruits, blood orange and spices caress the the palate through to the rich, vibrant finish. It has incredible depth and freshness.

2020
"Medium brick red-colored, the 2020 Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice is forward and wound up on the nose with lifted notes of orange peel, stemmy spices, clove, and cranberries and wet stones. The palate has a more supple and relaxed nature, with a medium-bodied and elegant feel, good balance, and a haunting, lasting perfume on the finish. It is more accessible right now but should offer a wide window for enjoyment over the next 20 years. Coming from this sheltered and slightly warmer microclimate within Ravera, entirely planted to the Lampia clone of Nebbiolo, they incorporate about 20% of stems in the fermentation, which adds to its more lifted and brightly spiced profile."
