GAJA
Sorì San Lorenzo Barbaresco DOP
In the local dialect, Sorì refers to the hillside facing south, while San Lorenzo is the patron saint protecting Alba’s Cathedral, as the vineyard was church property until 1964, when it was purchased by the Gaja family.
The Sorì San Lorenzo single vineyard is located in Barbaresco, close to the historic town center. It is south/ southwestern faced and it overlooks the Tanaro River, which regulates temperature and humidity.

Sorì San Lorenzo is the most austere and strongest of all the vineyards, the one which usually reaches full maturity in the bottle later than the others. The wine has a very rich and complex structure, with fruity, mineral and spicy notes. It is an exceptionally rich wine with a great ageing potential.

"Smoky and elegantly austere, showing graphite, licorice, red currants, dried cherries, violets and potpourri. The attack is fresh and balanced, with firm, youthful yet polished tannins, a rounded mouthfeel and a refreshing spine of acidity. The quality is evident in the finish, with its strawberry and orange-zest nuances. Drink or hold."
