  • Introduction

    • La Spirale means the vortex; a symbol of life, creation and the natural formative forces that guide our hands in our agricultural and winemaking pursuits at Bergström Wines. It is also the name of our newest estate vineyard on the Ribbon Ridge AVA, just a stone’s throw from our Le Pré du Col Vineyard and within eyesight of the winery on the Chehalem Mountains AVA. This complex and beautifully positioned Southwest facing 22-acre rolling slope includes more than 14 different marine sedimentary soil expressions. Planted by the Redman family and purchased by our family in 2018.

  • Vinification

    • 100% whole-cluster fermentation in open-top, temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation tanks

    • Fermentation: Native fermentation where possible. Inoculation with selected native Burgundian strains of yeast where needed
    • Malolactic: 100% malolactic and alcoholic fermentation (no residual sugars or malic acids)
    • Aging: 10-12 months élevage on lees
    • Filtration: Polishing filtration when needed

  • Tasting Notes

    • Dark red raspberry in color. The perfume is an ethereal bouquet of wildflowers and roses, playful jelly jars of pomegranate, red currant, raspberry, strawberry and fruit candies. On the palate, this sinewy and terroir-driven ruby of a wine is all about red fruits, elegant spice, fresh loam, grape-stalk-driven savory herbs and a sandstone and saline minerality. In terms of aging potential, this is a contender for wine of the vintage. In its youth, it is taut but very enjoyable.

    Glistening ruby. Intense red and blue fruit, floral and spice notes on the incisive nose, along with hints of cola and smoky minerals. Juicy and precise in the mouth, offering sappy raspberry, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors and a bright, spicy top note. Smoothly plays power off delicacy and finishes long and silky, with polished tannins framing repeating red fruit and floral notes.
