Mâcon-Verzé – 2008
-
Introduction
-
2008 marked the fifth year in biodynamics for our Mâcon-Verzé vineyard.
The vines have found their balance, and the vineyard remained healthy despite a difficult year marked by regular rainfall that could have promoted the growth of mildew and oïdium. The well-aerated foliage allowed good air circulation, which quickly dried the grape clusters. This year, the Verzé vineyard did not experience any climatic incident. The general effect of these elements led to a lovely harvest of fine quality.
Flowering occurred more rapidly than in the Côte de Beaune, reaching its peak between June 16 and 25. Harvest began on October 1 with an experienced team of pickers who marvelled at the quality of the grapes. In fact, the second half of September had been bathed in sunlight accompanied by a north wind. This wind, at times unceasing, allowed perfect ripening and, at the same time, increased concentration of the grapes, with a total absence of botrytis.
After pressing and decanting, the musts were transported from Verzé to Puligny, where they were vinified and raised in tank. A promising vintage!
