  • Vintage Report

    • Our summer in 2018 was long and warm, with temperatures frequently exceeding 35 degrees Celcius. As a result, the grapes ripened quickly and evenly, and we were able to start the grape harvest for dry wines in August – three weeks earlier than the previous record. The last Furmint grapes for dry styles were picked at Szt. Tamás on September 10th, which is usually considered early for the start of the harvest for dry wines, let alone the finish.

  • Vinification

    • After harvesting the Furmint grapes, whole bunches were pressed and fermented in Zemplén oak barrels. After fermentation the wine was matured for six months in oak.

    • Bottled: July 2019
  • Technical Information

    • Varietal Composition: 100% Furmint
    • Alcohol: 13%
    • TA: 7.1 g/L
    • RS: 1.5 g/L
  • Tasting Notes

    • Mézes Mály Furmint is a sleek, concentrated wine with elegance and a subtle floral character, hints of spice, and plenty of white peach and apricot fruit all balanced by refreshing, crisp acidity and a lingering finish.

    • Serving Suggestions: Serve at a cool temperature with Asian food, white meats, fish and pasta dishes.

  • Mézes Mály Great 1st Growth, Dry Furmint — 2018 – Wine & Spirits – 93 Points

“Presents a complex, heady, powerful wine, saturated with stone-fruit flavors, while the almond skin and vanilla influence of oak add a grace note over the sleek fruit. This carries its richness well.”
