Arnaldo Caprai
Montefalco Rosso DOC
Arnaldo Caprai Montefalco Rosso is a wine that embodies the rich history and unique terroir of the Montefalco region in Umbria. What sets Montefalco Rosso apart is its deep connection to the land—the vineyards are carefully cultivated on the slopes of the Montefalco hills, where the combination of limestone and clay soils, along with the region’s favorable climate, results in wines of great balance and character.
Spurred cordon vines planted in clay matrix soils are situated on the slopes of the Montefalco hills. The vineyards benefit from a unique terroir of limestone and clay soils, which provide excellent drainage and help maintain the right moisture balance for the vines. The region’s favorable microclimate, with warm days and cooler nights, ensures a slow and even ripening of the grapes, preserving their natural acidity and enhancing their aromatic complexity. The Caprai family has carefully chosen these vineyard sites to express the true character of the local varietals, such as Sangiovese and Sagrantino, producing wines with remarkable depth and balance.

“Black cherry and spice dominate the aroma, along with an intense floral element. The wine is lush on the palate, with gripping tannins, mouthwatering acidity and ample dark fruit notes both fresh and preserved with an undertone of clove and cinnamon.”
