  • Introduction

    • With a long history of producing Provençal wines, the Commanderie started to develop wines partly sourced from neighboring properties. Selecting the terroirs, the varietals and specific plots allows the winery to remain true to the Peyrassol DNA.

  • Vineyard Profile

    • Soil: Clay and limestone from the Triassic period, with a high proportion of gravel
  • Vintage Report

    • The 2020 season began in spring with regular rainfall until mid-July. Until the beginning of August, the water stress remained moderate. With the summer heat, the soils of the plateau as well as the hillside (where our Rolle and Syrah grow) became relatively tense. Yet, the temperature variations between the cool nights and hot days helped reach wellbalanced acidity. The seasonality favored a very active ripening leading to harvest taking place a week earlier than in 2019. The wines are mature and well-balanced.

  • Vinification

    • Traditional, in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature after a delicate pneumatic pressing.

    • Aging: The wine spends several months on fine lees while allowing the aromatic freshness to persist.
  • Technical Information

    • Varietal Composition: 40% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre
  • Tasting Notes

    • The wine is pale pink in color. Notes of small wild berries mingle on the nose with a hint of juniper. This spiciness lends weight to the liveliness on the palate reminiscent of exotic citrus fruits, creating a crisp, harmonious and refreshing ensemble. Spice lingers on the palate for a full and round finish.

    • Serving Suggestions: The exoticism of Chinese fried noodles with beef or a savory Vietnamese Bo Bun will find their perfect expression when combined with the lightness of this youthful blend.
