Royal Tokaji
Vineyard Selection Dry Furmint Tokaji
This dry furmint is from estate-grown grapes and is an expression of Royal Tokaji’s 1st Growth single-vineyards around the Mád commune, which all feature volcanic soils. This is noted on the label with the Hungarian word, Dűlőválogatás, which translates to vineyard selection. The wine delivers a beautiful expression of the vintage from each parcel year after year.
Grapes for the Vineyard Selection are primarily from the Mád commune, from the winery’s estate 1st Growths Szt. Tamás and Nyulászó. Whole bunches were gently pressed and fermented in Hungarian oak barrels (300 L and 500 L) from the Zemplen Forest. During vinification, malolactic fermentation is avoided. The wine matured in Hungarian oak (20% new) for six months.
