Royal Tokaji
Szt Tamás 1st Growth Dry Furmint Tokaji
This dry Furmint is crafted from estate-grown grapes sourced from Royal Tokaji's 1st Growth single-vineyards around the Mád commune, all situated on volcanic soils. The label features the Hungarian term Dűlőválogatás, meaning "vineyard selection," highlighting the wine's unique terroir. The standout aspect of this wine is its ability to express the depth and complexity of the volcanic soils, offering vibrant acidity, minerality, and subtle fruit and floral notes that reflect the exceptional quality of these first-growth vineyards.
Szt. Tamás is a celebrated First Growth vineyard partly sloping southwest, which overlooks the Royal Tokaji winery in Mád, and partly east, which goes down to a brook valley. The soil in both parts is rich, red clay interspersed with indigo and purple volcanic rocks on and below the surface. The eastern part has the cooler climate of the two.

“A beautiful range of spice box, tobacco and tea leaf notes provide a fragrant, savory thread, with flavors of dried pear and quince paste, plus a tangy streak of salinity. This is broad and creamy on the palate, with deftly honed acidity creating a well-meshed, vibrant frame.”
