Te Mata
Estate Pinot Noir, Hawke’s Bay
Sourced exclusively from Te Mata’s estate vineyards. The estate wines represent the best qualities of their variety, vintage, and Hawke’s Bay origin. The 2025 Estate Pinot Noir was harvested between February 25th and 26th, 2025, from Te Mata Estate’s Woodthorpe Terraces vineyard in the upper Dartmoor Valley.
Woodthorpe Terraces is nestled between sheltering hills on elevated, free-draining, north-facing terraces in Hawke’s Bay Dartmoor Valley. The soils, which were left behind as the Tutaekuri River eroded its path through the hills to the sea, are mainly alluvial stone, clay and sandy loam. Vineyard planting began in 1994 and today Woodthorpe Terraces has 75 hectares under vine, planted to number of varietals and is the winery’s sole source for Pinot Noir.

Bright ruby with a youthful purple hue, Estate Pinot Noir 2025 is vibrant and inviting, with ripe red and black cherry, raspberry, and strawberry aromas layered with notes of clove, thyme, and rosemary. The palate is generous and fruit-driven, supported by smooth, mouth-coating tannins and fresh acidity. Subtle notes of nori and pink peppercorn carry through the long, dry, savory finish. Plush and approachable, it offers immediate charm and drinkability.

"A very direct and serious pinot noir that delivers beautifully pure strawberry and cherry character with hints of spices such as cloves. It’s medium-bodied with firm, lightly chewy tannins and a touch of smoke and matchstick at the end. Drink now. Screw cap."
