  • Introduction

    • Elena is the daughter of co-owners, Valter Fissore and Nadia Cogno. The vineyard for this wine was planted when Elena was born, and is dedicated to her, as is the wine. The label is a drawing of a chick that Elena made for her mother and father when she was just three years old. (She is now the professional designer of all the winery’s labels.) This label has been the symbol of the wine ever since its creation many years ago. This Barolo Riserva is produced only in great vintages.

  • Vintage Report

    • 2010 was an extraordinary vintage for the Barolos of Elvio Cogno. The long, cold winter lasted until mid-March and had copious snowfall, allowing for a good budding and initial vegetative development. The beginning of summer was characterized by cool, rainy weather, slowing down grape development and resulting in a later harvest. The broad highs and lows of the summer helped the grapes develop an exceptional aromatic richness, combined with the right polyphenolic balance.

“… showing lovely scents of rose petals, and freshness in its red cherry and plum flavors. Its tannins are smooth, cinching the fruit like a cool silk scarf that unwinds over time, letting in notes of spice and fine, leafy herbs...”

  • Vigna Elena Barolo Riserva DOCG – 2010 – 93 points – Wine Spectator

“Perfumed with floral and berry notes, this red picks up cherry, leather and tar flavors, featuring well-defined, vibrant acidity. Silky and long in texture, this is balanced and expressive.”
