Les Vieux Clos, AOC Savennières — 2021

      Wine Spectator
      90

"Shows soft, supple chamomile and baked apple notes framed by pleasingly bitter tannins. A distinctive, earthy white, showing some evolution, with ground ginger, warm hay and spices infusing the broad palate, while citrusy acidity balances the medium-body profile. Reveals salted brioche at the close."

"A natural-leaning, funky version for fans of the offbeat style. Shows earth and ripe fruit that share the stage with citrus, melon and sugared plum lacquered with salty brine, pickled ginger, warm soil and chamomile. Silky smooth in texture, with orange zest adding nice range and depth."

Silky and broad on the palate, with citrus oil and serious herbaceousness weaving through. The bitter-edged finish shows good complexity as well as sun tea and acacia highlights."

With a rich golden color, there's a sensation of sweetness allied with honeyed fruit and fullness of high alcohol. Low yields are reflected in the intense concentration. It is a serious, structured style with well-handled phenolics providing grip and contributing to its length, while the season's bright acidity ensures fres
