At the heart of Jonive is a dedication to crafting wines that truly reflect the quality and essence of the vineyard. In consultation with friend and vineyard expert Matt Stornetta, of Stornetta Made Vineyard Management, winemaker Vance Rose strives to nurture the best-tasting fruit possible. Jonive is committed to maintaining organic viticulture, free from synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides. Deep below the vines, a dynamic and bio-diverse soil structure, rich in favorable nutrients, promotes vine and grape health along with the purity of flavor.

Situated in the coolest region of the Russian River Valley, in the rugged Sebastopol Hills, Jonive’s Moon Dust Vineyard is home to an optimal climate for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Among many advantages, the vineyard is poised on fertile Goldridge soils, providing excellent drainage for enhanced fruit concentration.

The diverse vineyard site is home to six clones of Pinot Noir and two clones of Chardonnay. The 11 acres of pinot noir, planted in 2008 are divided into eight blocks of clones 828, DB Selection, 115, 667, 777, and Pommard. The four acres of chardonnay planted in 1998 are divided into two blocks of clone 17/Robert Young and clone 95.

Winemaker Vance Rose states “Together these factors contribute to producing our beautifully expressive and site-specific wines”
