Champagne Gosset’s Rare Cuvée Makes US Debut in May Master Class Series

ST. HELENA, CA (May 2, 2016) — This month, Champagne Gosset will introduce its one-time limited-release bottling, Cuvée 15, at sparkling retrospective tasting seminars in Boston, New York and San Francisco, covering disgorgement dates from 1987 of the winery’s flagship Grande Réserve.

Cuvée 15 is a blend of 60 percent Chardonnay sourced from Les Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant and Villers-Marmery and 40 percent Pinot Noir from Ambonnay, Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Cellared in 1999, the wine has aged more than 15 years on its lees. The prolonged cellar-aging, with no malolactic fermentation, is what cellarmaster Jean-Pierre Mareigner says allows the wine “to retain its freshness and elegance while improving its vinosity, complexity and fullness.”

Assistant winemaker Hermine de Clermont Tonnerre and export director Bertrand Verduzier will take seminar attendees through a retrospective tasting of Grande Réserve bottlings with disgorgement dates ranging from 1987 to 2015 — including wines never released in the US — as well as the varietal components. The flagship non-vintage brut is what Jean-Pierre calls “the true signature of the House” and “an expression of the Gosset style.”
