Schramsberg Vineyards Nominated for Wine Enthusiast’s American Winery of the Year

ST. HELENA, CA (August 28, 2015) — Schramsberg Vineyards has been named one of five nominees for Wine Enthusiast’s Wine Star Award for American Winery of the Year, the winery’s third nomination for the prestigious honor in five years.

Each year, the editors at Wine Enthusiast Magazine select nominees based on their achievements in the beverage industry and Schramsberg, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has once again proven itself as a driving force in the wine world. Wine Enthusiast supports its selection, noting that the winery “has long topped California’s list of incredible sparkling wine producers. Acclaimed for its range of bubbles, from bruts to vintage reserves, Schramsberg is consistently reaching new heights.”

“As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, this is a tremendous honor for our winery team and my family,” says second-generation vintner Hugh Davies. “My parents poured everything that they had into reviving this historic property on Diamond Mountain, and into crafting America’s first world-class sparkling wines.  We’re proud to be able to continue building upon their spirited vision, and to be recognized in this way by the Wine Enthusiast.”

The other nominees in the category are: Abacela (Oregon), Gramercy Cellars (Washington State), Justin Winery (Paso Robles) and Becker Vineyards (Texas). The winners will be announced November 3 and will be featured in Wine Enthusiast’s “Best of Year” issue. Trophies will be presented on January 25, 2016, at the gala awards dinner in New York City at the NY Public Library’s Celeste Bartos Ballroom.
