Budget-Minded Travelers Will Find That Italy’s Most Luxurious Experiences Are Now Within Reach – Castello Di Volpaia

Nestled within the vineyards and rolling hills of Radda-in-Chianti, the family-run Castello di Volpaia offers gorgeous accommodations (individual villas and apartments are available), an excellent cooking school and outdoor activities. In fact, the Borgo di Volpaia is its own medieval town and the venue is perfect for weddings and bigger groups. A weeklong stay for two people costs from 600 to 2,175 euros ($790 to $2,870) in one of the fully equipped apartments during the spring and summer months.

Castello di Volpaia is a particularly attractive destination for lovers of the great outdoors. Proprietor Carlo Mascheroni has mapped out all the nearby hiking paths, many of which slice through vineyards, stone villages and cypress-lined hilltops, according to difficulty and duration. You can ask for a copy of his hiking book at the reception desk or, alternatively, arrange for an excursion by horseback.
