Wilson Daniels Establishes the Anne-Claude Leflaive Memorial Scholarship

ST. HELENA, CA (January 27, 2016) — Wilson Daniels will award one industry professional a sponsorship for exemplary work in the wine industry and an all-expense-paid trip to Domaine Leflaive in Burgundy. The scholarship is in honor of the late Anne-Claude Leflaive, whose passion for education and sustainable growing methods has earned the historic family estate a reputation as a leader in biodynamic farming and as a benchmark for white Burgundy.

The scholarship will be awarded based on criteria assessing individuals’ dedication to furthering their education and contribution in the wine arena. The selection process aims to identify candidates who display qualities of authenticity, originality and passion for the industry — just as Anne-Claude did throughout her remarkable life.

Broadening wine professionals’ knowledge and understanding was a lifelong goal of Anne-Claude. In 2008, along with six other highly respected Burgundy vintners, she established Ecole du Vin et des Terroirs, an educational program focusing on vine-growing and winemaking using an ecological, environmental and humanistic approach.

The Anne-Claude Leflaive Memorial scholarship includes reimbursement for the recipient’s choice of paid educational certification and a trip to Domaine Leflaive, including airfare to Paris with transportation to Domaine Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet, lodging while in Burgundy and dinner with Domaine Leflaive managing director Brice de La Morandière and Anne-Claude Leflaive’s husband Christian Jacques.

Each candidate is required to submit a résumé, a biography, an essay stating the reasons for pursuing this scholarship, three professional references and a copy of the “letter of intent” submitted to the educational program of choice (for reimbursement purposes).
