The Vinsanto has a rich, amber color. It is a full, balanced wine with an intense, spicy, long nose.

“Lovely earthy aromas of lychee, violet and hint of leather. Wild cherry palate with tobacco and mineral. Supple tannins and very good length.”

“Restrained aromas of tight fruit, savoury notes, roses and leather. Elegant red fruit with Marmite notes on the palate, refreshing acidity and soft, yet high tannins. Quite backward at the moment but is classcical in style. Will last.”

“An attractive Vin Santo opens with integrated aromas of honey, candied chestnut, maple syrup, dried fruit and apricot. The 2003 vintage was a hot one, but this beautiful wine takes that heat and turns it into intensity. Finishes full and soft.”

“There’s loads of black cherry and sweet tobacco character on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. Layered and beautiful.”

“A silky and attractive red, with raspberry and dark cherry character. Medium and delicious.”

“The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva shows quite a bit of warmth and spiciness in its dark red fruit. This is an attractive, mid-weight Chianti but the vintage doesn’t seem to have produced fruit with enough depth to stand up to the French oak, which overpowers the wine and contributes to the dry tannins. Overall, I expected more from the 2007 Riserva.”

“The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva Coltassala is much more successful than the straight Riserva. Here, too, the French oak is quite present, but there is more than enough fruit to balance the oak. There is also a vibrancy that keeps the fruit fresh, while clean, minerally notes punctuate the finish.”
