This has a very harmonious, Sauternes-like bouquet with orange blossom and wild peach aromas percolating through with time. The palate is poised and focused, delivering vibrant energy a touch of spiciness on the back palate and outstanding length.

This is more backward compared to Mézes Mály, and very much more citrus driven, featuring lemon peel, orange zest and crushed stone aromas; the Aszú element is more discreet. The finish, vibrant palate is more balanced and harmonious, offering a fine bead of acidity and candied orange peel toward the finish. Edgier than Royal Tokaji’s other 2017s, and perhaps spicier on the finish, this will be fascinating to observe mature in bottle.

Mézes Mály, 6 Puttonyos, which comes from vines on loess soils, has a beautiful nose. Very pure but not intense, it offers scents of honeysuckle, clementine, lemon sherbet and a touch of black currant leaf, all showing wonderful definition. The palate is very well balanced and impressive weight, but like the nose, there is a subtlety, a lightness of touch from start to finish. Elegant and poised, this is a very classy effort from one of Tokaji’s most renowned sites and it will age with class.

This has a lighter and perhaps less complex bouquet compared to Royal Tokaji’s other cuvées, though it develops nicely in the glass to reveal lemon verbena, dried mango and wild peachy scents. The palate is much more open, its impressive weight and concentration effortlessly counterbalanced by a fine line of acidity. This is very harmonious and poised, and almost Sauternes-like toward the finish.

This Tokaji Aszu is golden in color, with ethereal aromas of honeysuckle, acacia, fresh peach and canned apricots. Flavors come to life in the mouth, with honeycomb, pear and canned apricot. Well-balanced acidity is an excellent foil for the delightful sweetness.

Aromas of white freesia, lanolin, honeysuckle and beeswax prepares the palate for flavors of apricot, orange zest and white-peach juice. Made from grapes grown on the Mézes Mály single vineyard, this has heft on the palate and pleasant mouthfeel. The finish offers fruit sweetness with balanced acidity.

Aromas of white flowers, jasmine and orange zest lead the way for flavors of apricot conserves, orange pith and white-peach juice on the palate. This delightful single-vineyard wine from the Nyulaszo vineyard offers a delicate balance of sweetness and acidity, with a persistent finish.

Gold reflections glimmer in this amber-colored sweet wine that has aromas of apricot, yellow peach and Bartlett pear. The palate shows flavors of acacia honey, canned apricot, and Anjou pear. The finish has enough acidity to stand up to the sweetness.

Lively nose of peaches, zesty lemon and orange spice. Bright with a clear tension on the palate, well-concentrated fruit.

This white carries aromas of flint, yellow peach and apple blossom. It is big in feel, with flavors of apricot, flint and citrus zest. The finish is smooth yet lifted in acidity.

This late-harvest wine carries aromas of pear and acacia flower, with flavors of Bartlett pear, apricot and dried rosemary. It has nice weight on the midpalate and the finish is pleasantly sweet without being too cloying.

The 2016 vintage is the first since 2008 in which Royal Tokaji has released the full range of its aszú wines, including single-vineyard bottlings from its top parcels. The season's warm, humid summer allowed for ample botrytis to develop on the grapes the Royal Tokaji team then made multiple passes through the vineyards over the course of several weeks, picking the fruit a berry at a time to ensure only healthy botrytis. Royal Tokaji's portion of the crescent-shaped Betsek vineyard is toward the bottom of the slope, where cool air collects and the rich clay soil holds that chill. Perhaps you can taste the contrast of rich and cool in this 2016, the wine filled with creamy apricot-and-peach density of flavor, yet lifted by brisk spice, citrus and floral notes. It feels vivacious and pretty, carrying itself with an ease that belies its sweetness (it's richest of Royal Tokaji's 2016 aszús, at 185 grams per liter of residual sugar).

This feels youthful and lean, the peach and lemon flavors pinned to the wine's broad texture by sharp acidity. While it's succulent and almost refreshing now, this is sure to build in complexity with time in bottle.

​Mid gold in colour with a very youthful, pure nose of dried apricot and saffron. Great power and density on the palate, with real weight and generosity of fruit. The cut of mouth-watering acidity adds a savoury, earthy quality that brings a lip-smacking, spicy finish. Very powerful and rich, with glossy honey and stone fruits lingering for a minute or more. Superb and very ageworthy.

Bright gold. Sweet and honeyed on the nose, noticeably more youthful and primary than the Blue Label. Almost grapey with hints of raisin and dried apricot. Thick and rich on entry before cutting acidity cleans the palate and prevents any cloying nature. Massive concentration, full of fleshy, dried stone fruits and acacia honey. Great density and length, finishing with acid rather than sugar

Bright gold colour. Honeyed apricots and dried peaches with accents of marmalade and exotic spices on the nose. Great concentration of fleshy stone fruits at the core, with glossy honey and sweet vanilla adding to the complexity. Sweet without any sense of stickiness, this is fresh, vibrant and lifted on a long and sumptuous finish. Very, very moreish – the perfect wine to introduce someone to Tokaji

Mid gold colour. Honey, honeysuckle and candied apricots on the nose. Massive concentration with fleshy, sweet fruit on the palate. So youthful, with a sweeter, rounder mouthfeel than the other single-vineyard wines. Unctuous until the inevitable acidity cuts through, but this still finishes with a sweet kick. Honey, marmalade and blood orange. Superb!

Slightly closed on the nose at the moment – some notes of acacia, poached peaches and apricots. Quite a compact style, with searing acidity. Lithe and mineral, with an almost dry perception on the finish thanks to so much acid.

This is the 14th vintage of Red Label since the company's founding in 1990. At 158 grams per liter of residual sugar - officially enough to consider this 6 Puttonyos - it's sweet, yet it's also deeply savory, with marzipan, mushroom and ferrous mineral tones packed around the honeyed peach flavor. Acidity keeps it brisk and clean, ready to pair with a cheese plate.
