The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé En Bertilionne comes from limestone soils at around 320m altitude (although it is not proposed for Premier Cru status if authorities permit.) It has a strict, stony bouquet dominated by the terroir - almost austere and Zen-like. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry and shows a little more weight than the Pouilly-Fuissé Village, quite textural on the finish. This is an excellent showing from one of the appellation’s lesser-known vineyards and it should give 10-12 years of drinking pleasure. Excellent.

The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé Vers Cras sports a lucid pale straw hue with green tints. It has quite a rich bouquet for Vers Cras with traces of wild honey and honeysuckle infusing the vivid citrus fruit, reminiscent of a fine Chassagne-Montrachet in some ways. Very good definition. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity that counterbalances the richness locked into this Vers Cras. It is not the most mineral driven wine that I have encountered from this outstanding vineyard, yet it is vivacious and full of tension on the finish, hints of pineapple and stem gingers tingling on t

The touch of spice in this wine adds richness to its white fruits. It gives a wine that is both ripe and textured, with lively acidity at the end. This will be a fine wine from 2021.

Good acidity in this wine goes along with the spice to balance the crisp texture and generous tropical fruits. Drink this balanced wine now.

They have 4.8 ha (nearly 12 acres) and lots of small parcels, from 210 to 400 m, so they are blended. 80% fermented in tank and 20% in barrel. And one barrel was new. Smells more oaky and mealy than the Mâcon-Solutré 2016. More spicy. But on the palate, lots of bright pure citrus. Rich and creamy. A slight grip extends the length and heightens the freshness.

Set to become a premier cru. One parcel dates back to 1945. Quite a lot of clay with the limestone. Barrel fermented, 20% new oak. More fragrant and cedary than the village Pouilly-Fuissé 2016. Very inviting. Creamy but elegant, the oak very subtle. Dry, gently chewy, pure precise citrus. There’s mealy richness but great tension. Very direct, and has eaten the oak. Tense,

A little more creamy/mealy than the En Bertilionne, a little less spice in the aroma. Fuller in the mouth, more power and intensity to the fruit but no loss of freshness. This is very classy Pouilly-Fuissé with a long finish and good ageing potential...

Deep gold. A pretty 'natural' wild-yeast sort of nose – not that intense – and lots to chew on. Savoury, bone dry – not the flashy, fruity appeal of some of its peers. A very dry style.

Really lively, lifted nose with sweet, very bright fruit. Racy with a certain chalkiness of texture on the end. Some persistence.

Rich, broad nose and chewy, substantial palate. It could do with a little more acidity but there is a clear sense of purpose here. Chewy finish.

"Elegant and flavorful, the 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé is a definite success from this new producer, offering up a classic bouquet of honeyed citrus fruits and spring flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied."

"The 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé En Bertillonne is a bit more structured and also a bit more marked by wood than the domaine's regular Pouilly-Fuissé, but it's also very appealing, offering up notes of peaches, beeswax and honeysuckle."

"The 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé Aux Bouthières is excellent, unfurling from the glass with a generous bouquet of honeyed peaches and buttered orchard fruit, accented by bright touches of citrus zest and flowers."
